If 50 Shades of Grey left you feeling curious about the world of BDSM, Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns will explain the lifestyle in a fun, entertaining, informative and accurate way. It is the most universally recommended ‘how to’ book for BDSM newcomers, and it will help you decide if this is a sensual play you wish to introduce into your relationship.
I learned about this primer for BDSM from a recent interview I had with bestselling erotic romance author Joey W. Hill on After Dark Radio Show. Joey’s books are based around the BDSM theme, and she is a submissive. Joey believes Screw the Roses is an excellent introduction into this creative, cerebral, and wickedly delicious sexual play.
Screw the Roses covers D/s personality types, how to negotiate a new BDSM relationship, play techniques, personal safety and play safety. It also is a terrific how to for many of the common BDSM play styles, from flogging and paddling to bondage and rope-work. The authors do a terrific job of writing with humor, sexiness and fun!
This book is written primarily from the point of view of male dominant/female submissive interactions, but it’s easily translatable into valuable advice for any relationship configuration. My only complaint about this book is the title!
Warning: If BDSM turns you on, then you’ll find this book to be extremely “squirm in your seat” sexy!
